Circe: The Song of Benedito
Full Plot Summary
Circe: The Song of Benedito tells the tale of Benedito, captured in his homeland of Angola, and brought into the plantation fields of Brazil. In an epic journey to protect his family, he discovers war strategies and communion with the captured indigenous peoples of the plantation. Benedito discovers what will inevitably become known as Capoeira, the Afro-Brazilian martial art that masquerades war strategies as dance. Capoeira was used as a powerful weapon for rebellion and survival on the plantations of Brazil and becomes Benedito's saving grace. This exciting tale features a beautiful blend of African drums and folk songs that serve as the backdrop to the birth of Capoeria.
